Women’s football falls to Lipscomb and takes second place in ASUN Championship


NASHVILLE, Tennessee – The Central Arkansas women’s football team fell in their regular season final, losing to Lipscomb in a 0-3 final. UCA have struggled to generate an offense and fall to 9-8 this season. With the result, the Bears end the regular season in the No. 2 seed of ASUN West.

“Not the way we wanted to end the regular season, but the ASUN West co-champions in the first year to join the league aren’t that bad,” the head coach Jeremy Bishop said of the loss. “Now it’s time to regroup and get ready for the tournament.”

The UCA found themselves in a tough spot at first, as the Bison offense came out with heightened intensity, firing several shots in the opening minutes. While the Bears managed to hold them back for a while, but eventually gave up the game’s opening goal in the 19e minute.

Although UCA was able to stop the bleeding, Lipscomb continued to control possession for most of the half. The Bison finally found another goal before half-time, scoring in the 42sd minute and taking a 2-0 lead at halftime.

The Bears started to look good in the second half, but were ultimately unable to find a goal and close the gap.

Looking ahead to the ASUN Championship, the Bears have locked down the No.2 seed and will travel to Fort Meyers, Fla., To face Florda Gulf Coast University on October 29. FGCU was one of the only ASUN teams that UCA did not do. have to play this season, so it will be a whole new opponent for the Bears.
