The president of SATS challenges the footballer Soumya


Hyderabad: Telangana State Sports Authority (SATS) Chairman A Venkateshwar Reddy and Telangana Football Association Secretary and former international footballer GP Palguna called on Nizamabad international football player Guguloth Soumya on Sunday at her home in Nizamabad.

Soumya, who was expected to be part of India’s squad for the upcoming AFC Women’s Asian Cup scheduled to take place in India from January 20, suffered the injury during India’s football camp in Kerala recently. As per the doctor’s advice, Soumya returned to Nizamabad to recover from his injury.

SATS chief Venkateshwar Reddy has assured the footballer of financial aid of Rs 5 lakh on behalf of the state government. Sports Minister V Srinivas Goud, who spoke to him via video call, also assured him of better medical support in the state capital at government expense.

Soumya then thanked TFA President Mohd Rafat Ali, Palguna and the State Football Association for their support. Rafat Ali, chairman of TFA, asked the state government to grant Soumya a house and a government job.
