Montgomery County –A Montgomery County judge ordered former NFL player Kevin Ware Jr. to be held without bail for breaching the terms of a prior bond in cases unrelated to his girlfriend’s disappearance, Taylor Pomaski.
Criminal act suspected in the disappearance of a Spring woman who has been missing for more than a month
Ware was arrested for drug and arms trafficking in Montgomery County on April 19. He was released on bail but re-arrested on June 11 in Harris County for failing to appear in court and appear at the probation office. Investigators said Ware was in possession of a gun during the June 11 arrest.
Harris County Sheriff’s Office investigators did not name Ware a suspect in the Pomaski case.
In their motion to have Ware’s bail revoked or raised to $ 3 million, Montgomery County prosecutors wrote that he was a suspect in a murder investigation linked to Pomaski’s disappearance.
During Tuesday’s hearing, when questioned by the defense on this reference, a prosecutor said: “we are not moving forward with this”.
Pomaski has not been seen since April 25. Her mother was in court for the hearing and told KPRC 2 she felt “relieved” that Ware was going to stay behind bars.
Eric Zuleger, a longtime friend of Pomaski’s, said he hoped Ware remained locked up on unrelated charges as those with information about his disappearance would feel more comfortable reporting to police.
“It feels good to reach a milestone like that, to make sure he stays in jail, but what would be really nice if we knew where Taylor was and if he was an honest person. he would tell us because he knows exactly what happened and where she is and he takes that from the family, ”Zuleger said.
Ware is due to return to Montgomery County court in August.
