Ghana’s lower-level team Okwahu United lost their protest against Kwaebibirem United FC in the decision announced by the Discipline Committee of the Eastern Regional Football Association.
The two teams faced off in a Middle League match at the Theater of Dreams in Dawu, as the match ended abruptly after fans stormed the pitch.
Referee Emmanuel Kofi Agbodavi awarded Kwaebibirem United a penalty which caused chaos.
Okwahu United has sent a protest to DC to be awarded points after the game ended abruptly.
However, their protest was rejected by the EFRA Disciplinary Commission and the verdict was returned to their opponents.
The club was also fined 1,000 Ghc.
In ERFA DC’s ruling, Okwahu United FC’s protest against Kwaebibirem United FC is contested while Kwaebibirem United FC’s protest against Okwahu United was upheld.
According to the DC, Okwahu United took steps to have the game called off, so they were declared the losers of the game.
DC said Okwahu United as the loser will lose three points and three goals under Rule 33 (1) (b) for forfeiting.
