JKFA launches women’s junior U-17 football team for national football championship

Srinagar, June 19: The J&K Football Association (JKFA) on Sunday announced the participation of the J&K Women’s U-17 Junior Football Team in the upcoming National Football Championship to be held in Guwhati Assam from June 15-27, 2022.
The 24-player squad underwent 21 days of training at TRC Srinagar on synthetic turf and selectors selected the top 20 players from both provinces for the Hero 2022 National Women’s U-17 Youth Football Championship.
J&K are bracketed in Pool H with West Bengal, Tamil Nadu and Rajasthan. The matches are supposed to take place on June 22, 24 and 26, 2022.
Miss Nadiya Nighat will accompany the team as coach, Mr Masood Maqbool as manager and Dr Ritasha Bharti as physio.
J&K UT’s contingent of 20 players and three officials was reported by Narinder gupta, Former Sports Council Member and DFA Jammu Ad Hoc Committee Chairman, Yusuf don DFA Jammu Secretary, David Masih, JKFA Direct Member, Rakesh Kumar, Player of international football, Kamal Jeet kumar Football coach, Peter Sandhu, national player and others.
Speaking on the occasion, Narinder Gupta said JKFA is keen to provide better facilities for players to bring laurels to J&K.
The J&K Sports Council has created better facilities for young people to participate in different Games. The members of DFA Jammu were introduced to the players who were due to compete in the upcoming fourth National Championship.
