Ingram appointed NCBWA president for 2022

SAN ANTONIO – Associate Director of Communication at UTSA Brent Ingram has been named president of the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) for the upcoming 2022 season.

Ingram, a longtime baseball publicist, will be the president of the College Baseball Media Association during the 2022 season. He has served on the NCBWA board of directors for the past six years.

Ingram is in his fourth year working with UTSA’s athletic communication department where he is the primary contact for basketball and the number two contact for football. He was a publicity contact for college baseball for 14 years, including time at his alma mater Kentucky, UT Arlington and UTSA.

Back in his days as SID baseball in Kentucky, the Wildcats enjoyed their best 11-year streak in program history. That span included 72 players picked in the MLB Draft or who signed professional contracts. It also featured National Consensus Player of the Year AJ Reed, who in 2014 Ingram helped publicize. Kentucky hosted the first NCAA regional in program history and achieved the first number one national ranking in school history. In 2016, Ingram wrote the best baseball media guide in the country according to the College Sports Information Directors Association (CoSIDA).

In 2015, Ingram served as the press secretary for the United States National Baseball Team and for the past six years has served on the board of directors of the NCBWA. During his tenure on the board, Ingram conceptualized and now manages the NCBWA National Player and Pitcher of the Month award, awarded annually for the past six years.

Founded in 1962, the NCBWA is dedicated to the advancement of college baseball. The NCBWA sponsors Preseason All-American Awards, Publishing and Writing Competitions, National Player and Pitcher of the Month and Week, Regional Players of the Year and the Dick Howser National Player Trophy of the year.
