Football preparation roundup: Washougal ahead of OT goal


Lauren Rabus scored a goal from 20 yards at the end of second overtime as Washougal football beat WF West 1-0 on Tuesday to advance to the District 4 Class 2A tournament.

Washougal survived the Losers game at Chehalis to advance to Thursday for a win-win game against State and lose. The Panthers will face Conference Champion Evergreen Tumwater on the road.

Goalkeeper Makenzi Gehrke made 10 saves for Washougal (12-7).

HOCKINSON 2, TUMWATER 1, PKs – Ashley Suva saved two shots in a penalty shootout as the Hawks advanced to the District title game against Ridgefield.

Ani Vossler scored Hockinson’s goal in regulation, which ended 1-1.

After a scoreless overtime, the Hawks (13-5) went on to win the shootout 3-1 to bring down the Evergreen Conference champion Thunderbirds in a third-place game against Washougal.

4A Bi-District

CAMAS 1, PUYALLUP 0 – Lily Loughney’s second-half goal sent the Papermakers unbeaten to the Bi-District Championship game.

Camas (17-0-1) took to the road to beat Puyallup (13-2-3), the South Puget Sound League champion who had won five in a row.

Camas will face Olympia (12-5-1) for the bi-district title Thursday at Curtis High School in University Place.

UNION 2, KENTRIDGE 0 – Avery Schilling and Bailey Morris each scored goals in the second half as the Titans survived a losing game at Olympia.

After winning two consecutive playoff games to start the tournament, Union (12-5-1) can land their ticket to declare with one more victory. The Titans will face Curtis (9-4-4) in a winning game against State and losing Thursday in Olympia.

TAHOMA 2, SKYVIEW 1 – The Storm’s season ended with a loss in Kent. Skyview ends the season 5-12-2.

3A Bi-District

LAKES 1, PRAIRIE 0 – The Falcons (9-6-2) fell in a losing game at Federal Way.

GIG HARBOR 6, KELSO 0 – The Lassies faced the onslaught of the undefeated Tides in a semi-final game.

Kelso (10-3-2) clinched a place of state and will face Capital for third place on Thursday.

Ward 1A

ELMA 1, SETON CATHOLIC 0 – Host Eagles used a first-half goal to beat the Cougars in a losing game.

TENINO 1, ROAD OF THE KING 0 – The Knights fell in a losing game in the first round on the road.
