It’s a sweltering late afternoon with mid-80s temperatures less than three hours to kick off.
There is quarterback intrigue again for Georgia after Stetson Bennett started last week for an injured JT Daniels who faces an oblique strain.
“He was a game-changer and got better,” Georgia coach Kirby Smart told Buck Belue at 680 a.m. in an interview that aired Thursday. “It’s one of those things that is a nagging injury. If you watch him he says it can last 2-4 weeks. It is a question of severity. You can’t determine exactly when it happened or what made it worse. It’s a tough injury to deal with, so he fights. “
Bennett, Smart said this week, suffered from lower back pain, but his teammates said Bennett and Daniels trained this week. Smart said the way he throws the ball into the field and moves around the pocket is “the key ingredient there.”
It could be a homecoming for South Carolina quarterback Zeb Noland of Oconee County. Luke Doty, who started against Georgia last year in an unbalanced UGA victory in Colombia, has yet to play this season due to a sprained foot.
“Luke is as close to 100% as he has been since getting injured,” Gamecocks coach Shane Beamer said on his radio show, according to the Spurs Up Show. “He’s trained this week and looks good. There is no pain. We expect he will be able to play on Saturday night if the situation calls for it. “
