Kelsey Beggs scored four goals and added two assists as St. Mary’s Catholic Central women’s soccer team rebounded from a season-opening loss to Manchester with an 8-0 victory over Dundee on Monday.
“The girls played a fuller game tonight,” SMCC coach Laura Perry said. “They communicated well, trusted each other and we are able to connect in attack. It was all about the team today”
Ana Perna recorded the shutout with great help from stopper Audrey Cousino, a first-year soccer player who also got an assist.
Ava Kuehnlein added a goal and an assist and Madalyn Zaleski, Emerson Bergmooser and Sarah Netter scored the other goals. Caroline Roecker recorded two assists. Chloe Lohmeyer and Sadie Johnson also registered assists.
The Jets win the opener
ALLEN PARK – Airport won their first game under new coach Harold Mendez, beating Allen Park 2-1.
Cecilia Ortega and Marlie Liggett scored for the Jets, Natalie Steele assisted on both goals and Madison Daniels was strong in net.
Schlicklin scores three goals
Andy Schlicklin scored three goals and Jaci Morr and Eric Wahoski each netted a goal to lead Queens Park Strangers to a 6-5 win over Fake Madrid in the Monroe Adult Indoor Coed Soccer League at LevelUp Training Sunday.
In the first match of a doubleheader for Fake Madrid, Dan Laming’s goal saw the team beat La-Z-Bawlers 2-1.
In other games, Travis Campbell scored four goals and Ricky Sheardown added three to lead Old Crows to a 12-3 win over Rashford and Deportivo beat Athletico 8-7.
SMCC hosts primary schools
St. Mary Catholic Central has announced its annual school nights for spring sports.
Area students in grades K-8 will be admitted free and receive a gift from SMCC. The dates are: soccer, April 22 vs. Airport, 4:30 p.m.; baseball and softball, April 27 vs. Grosse Île, 4:30 p.m.; Lacrosse, May 6 vs. Belleville, 5:30 p.m.
