SIOUX FALLS, SD – Augustana soccer raced through town and beat the Sioux Falls Cougars 4-0 on Friday night. Augustana’s season record improves to 5-3-2 overall and 4-1-2 in NSIC conference action. The Cougars are 1-8-1 this season and have a 1-5-1 NSIC conference record.
The first goal of the fourth minute of play was an own home goal for the USF after some confusion in front of the net. Josie arduser scored the second of the game for the Vikings thanks to an assist from Morgan keirstead during the seventh minute. Fehr collected an assist on Carlie Kray goal in the 16th minute of the match which brought the score to 3-0.
Fehr, who has recorded eight assists this season, is now tied with Arduser in a season’s record book for assists in a season. Arduser accomplished his feat in 2019. The eight assists in 2021 are easily highs at the NSIC. The national leader in assists entered on Friday with eight.
Fehr scored the fourth goal of the game in the 61st minute of play for the Vikings.
Fehr is the current team manager for assists this season with 8. The all-time record for assists for Augustana was seven, previously held by Josie arduser. Fehr’s assist during the match brought his tally to eight, setting a new record for assists in one season.
Goalkeeper Jillian barkus facing a penalty shoot-out for 45 minutes of play. Senior Goalkeeper Meghan kuntz replaced Barkus for the second half of the game and faced two shots. The Vikings recorded their fifth shutout of the season.
