AGN Boys’ Super Pre-Season Football Team



GK: Jack Wetzel, Jr., Amarillo High

The starting Sandies goaltender conceded just four goals in all District games last season, recording five screams, a stellar 88% save percentage and claiming All-District first team honors in 2021.

DF: Amel Hadzisabic, Jr., Randall

An excellent defenseman who reads the game well and has a vision for cross-passing, Hadzisabic will be the Raiders’ baseline anchor in his junior year.

DF: Alex Silva, Sr., Palo Duro

A returning starter and a key defensive piece for the Dons, Silva will again be Palo Duro’s stronghold this season and hope to repeat in another deep playoff series.

DF: Jacob Perez, Jr., Amarillo High

District 3-5A defensive player of the year in 2021, Perez will return for one final game as captain and anchor of a Sandies defense looking to return as district champions.

DF: Coleby McCurdy, Soph., Randall

Strong left-back or left center-back, McCurdy won AGN Newcomer of the Year honors last season and will be a key figure on the Randall baseline this season.

MF: Braden Wilson, Jr., Amarillo High

Wilson won the District 3-5A Offensive Player of the Year award in 2021 as a midfield general, scoring six goals and handing out four assists. As the Sandies’ main playmaker, he will once again be crucial this year in hopes of repeating himself as district champions.

MF: Bryan Alderete, Sr., Pampa

A creative playmaker for the Harvesters, Alderete won first-team All-District honors last year and has teamed up well with fellow striker Justin Martinez.

MF: Rodrigo Lira, Sr., Randall

Moving from a center-back to a midfielder, Lira will be a strong stabilizing presence in the Raiders’ midfielder for this season.

FW: Dominique Gomez, Sr., Palo Duro

Paired with star Jaime Carrillo, Gomez is a powerful offensive threat for the Dons, scoring 25 goals and providing 24 assists as Palo Duro reached the 5A regional semifinals and claimed All-District first team honors.

FW: Justin Martinez, Jr., Pampa

With 27 goals last season and the District’s 4-4A offensive MVP and All-Region honorable mentions, Martinez will once again be the number one attacking threat for the Harvesters this year.

FW: Adrian Ruiz, Jr., Palo Duro

District 3-5A newcomer of the year Ruiz made a big impact off the bench to score 11 goals and provide five assists as he became a starter for the Dons.

Aiming for the stars: Carrillo becomes top scorer, eager to lead Palo Duro to state tournament


GK: Austin Contreras, father, Randall

Contreras took home district second all-star honors and is a key presence for the Raiders in goal.

DF: Luke Laminack, Sr., Amarillo High

A peerless defender of the Sandies, Laminack’s presence allows him to win most of the contested balls and sweep away any trouble in the baseline.

DF: Ben Zotter, Sr., Canyon

Zotter is hoping to anchor the defense of a rebuilding Canyon team with a new head coach.

MF: Brock Parker, senior, Randall

A midfield presence with solid technique for the Raiders, expect Parker’s influence to grow alongside Lira in Randall’s midfield.

MF: Edwin Vivero Ramirez, Senior, Tascosa

A strong midfield presence for the Rebels, Vivero Ramirez hopes to help Tascosa improve this season and become a contender for years to come.

MF: Félix Ibarra, Senior, Dumas

Dominant midfield presence for the Demons, Ibarra scored six goals and provided 12 assists last season.

FW: Angel Sanchez, Sr., Palo Duro

Another solid offensive option for the Dons, Sanchez scored seven goals and had four assists last season.

FW: Braeden Williamson, Jr., Amarillo High

Honorable mention for the All-District team in 2021, Williamson has scored seven goals and recorded two assists and could play a bigger role this season.
